Tower Infinity Korea

In a world where many of its architecture is seen behind the lenses of a “bigger is better” approach, Incheon’s Tower Infinity Korea is rising to defy the odds.

Set to be the first “invisible” skyscraper in the world, Tower Infinity Korea is a 450-meter tall entertainment and luxury hub that will house a variety of restaurants, a 4D theater, waterpark, and an observation deck positioned at 392 meters – the third-highest of its kind in the world.

The tower’s state-of-the-art camouflage concept emerged from an anti-tower principle by the architects behind the project. Rather than imposing prominence as yet again another member of the world’s best and tallest buildings, Tower Infinity Korea sets itself apart by celebrating the global community where it belongs instead of focusing on itself. To do this, the designers integrated a unique feature that garnered the soon-to-rise building a lot of attention – a façade technology that renders it to be “invisible.”

GDS Architects, the visionaries behind this symbolic feat, uses a LED façade system equipped with optical cameras positioned on six different sides at three different heights to display what is directly behind the building. Through digital processing, the produced images will be scaled, rotated, and combined to create a seamless panoramic photo that creates the illusion of invisibility – by seamlessly blending in with Incheon’s skyline. According to the architects, managers can alter the level of power used to manipulate the tower’s different levels of “invisibility.”

Apart from its “invisibility” feature, the tower’s huge projections can also be used to broadcast special events and advertisements.

Inside, an open floor plan awaits its guests, allowing them to freely peer at multiple levels as they ascend and descend throughout the building. However, the view outside the building itself is considered to be its best visual asset – with multiple floors used as an observation deck amid landscaped gardens.

Looking beyond the tower’s ironically distinct façade is an impressive profile, with its main spire flanked on both sides by two separate wings. Although its height is not the tower’s main selling point, Tower Infinity Korea is set to be the sixth tallest building in the world – proving that it does not go far behind the vertical department.

Tower Infinity Korea as the world’s first invisible tower showcases Korea’s innovative technology that encourages a more global narrative in the process – one that redefines what it truly means to be an observation tower.
