Lake House

In every facet of life, the influence of water is undeniable – from inspiring, dismantling, to nurturing nature back to its stellar health. This inspired Italy-based architectural studio Wafai Architecture to design this conceptual luxury villa amid Switzerland’s scenic Türlersee Lake – a perfect retreat for anyone craving for a reset while tuning back to nature.

Dubbed as the Lake House, the design for this conceptual luxury villa emerged upon observing the natural wonders of the Swiss forests – complete with lush greeneries and pristine waterways. This inspired the architects to translate the form into a paradox of complementing elements that highlight the surrounding landscape, paired with strong contrasts of glass and concrete to complete the dynamic look of the house.

Smooth lines and graceful curves embodied the villa’s organic form that blends itself into the surrounding wilderness, guiding one’s vista into the backdrop. However, its most distinctive feature is actually a curvaceous glass wall that gradually transforms into a roofing element.

Stepping inside the villa leads to a glass façade, where one finds a massive, sculptural staircase that follows the same curvaceous concept of its exteriors – leading guests to the second floor. Nicely tucked below the staircase is a living area that oozes a mix between minimalist and modern aesthetics, a clean and inviting ambiance livened up by an undulating ceiling generated from the staircase itself.

Apart from showcasing its neat interiors, the Lake House also boasts of a floating pool along the lake that blurs the line between the natural and built environment.

For materials, offering abundant natural sunlight into its cozy interiors is a combination of wood and glass panels that further invoked a warm and sensual atmosphere. The rest of the form is then wrapped in plastered cast concrete blocks, which created its distinct, off-white color.

Behind its luxurious feel, the house is actually designed to be low-budget, which despite its limited spatial and financial capacities, encouraged endless design possibilities once nature became its top source of inspiration.
